Before you go
Culture
Pak Bara is in a predominantly Muslim area. Respect local customs regarding alcohol—do not bring beer into restaurants and expect no alcohol served.
Food
Halal restaurants near the pier serve no alcohol. Evening dining is very limited. Beach restaurants 2km back have more options. Consider staying in La Nguu for better evening dining.
Money
ATMs are available near the ferry pier. Get sufficient cash before heading to the islands as banking facilities are limited on most Andaman islands.
Transport
All ferry tickets are sold by vendors near the pier (no office). Speedboats have replaced slow ferries and cost significantly more. Budget around 40 baht for pier entry fee.
