Overview
Owo is one of the largest cities in Ondo State, South West Nigeria, with a population of approximately 220,000 (2016). The city traces its origins to the ancient city of Ile-Ife, the cradle of Yoruba culture, and claims descent from the Yoruba deity Oduduwa.

Culture
Owo maintains strong Yoruba traditions. The Olowo of Owo is a revered traditional ruler. Visitors should show respect during festivals and when visiting the palace grounds.
Health
The Federal Medical Center is located at Adekunle Ajasin Road, Owo. For serious medical emergencies, transfer to larger hospitals in Akure or Benin City may be necessary.
Money
Nigeria uses the Naira (NGN). Major hotels and some restaurants accept card payments, but cash is preferred at local markets and smaller establishments. ATMs are available in the city center.
Transport
Owo is connected by road to Akure, Benin City, and other regional cities via the Sagamu-Benin Expressway. Local transport includes taxis and motorcycles (okada).
