Overview
Niğde offers a glimpse into provincial Turkish life away from tourist crowds. The city preserves Seljuk-era architecture including the carved eastern gate of Ak Medrese (built 1233) and several ornate tombs from the 13th-14th centuries.

Generally safe provincial city. Standard urban precautions apply. Aladağlar National Park requires proper equipment for trekking.
Transport
Dolmuş minibuses run to Bor every hour or two (20 min). Erciyes Ekspresi train connects to Kayseri (2 hr 20 min) and Adana. Inter-city buses depart from Otogar on main Adana highway.
Weather
Hot dry summers and cold snowy winters. Elevation of 1229m means cooler nights even in summer. Best visiting seasons are spring and fall.
