Overview
Namyangju (남양주) is a city in northeast Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, best known as the birthplace of Jeong Yak-yong (1762-1836), one of Korea's greatest scholars and writers of the Silhak school. The city preserves his legacy through his birthplace, tomb, and the Jeong Yak-yong Ecological Park.

Transport
Namyangju is served by Gyeongui–Jungang Line and Gyeongchun Line with stations including Donong, Deokso, and Maseok. Local buses and Korea's first trolley bus system operate within the city.
Weather
Summers are long, warm and humid with heavy rainfall in July. Winters are short, freezing and snowy. October offers the best weather for outdoor festivals and sightseeing.
