Overview
Monk's Cowl is the classic Drakensberg hiking base: named after the peak between Cathkin Peak and Champagne Castle, it is the access point to the Mlambonja and Mdedelo Wilderness Area within the Maloti-Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site. Hikers come for the network of trails through river valleys and mountain passes, ranging from gentle one-hour walks to multi-day overnight routes with breathtaking cliff-top scenery.
