Overview
Mismaloya is a small beach community on Mexico's Pacific Coast that gained fame as the filming location for Richard Quine's 1964 film The Night of the Iguana, starring Richard Burton. The small valley is surrounded by the Sierra Madre and tropical forest, offering calm waters, pelicans diving for fish, and a relaxed, colorful, family-friendly atmosphere perfect for resting and enjoying sunsets.

Mobile coverage is available through Mexican carriers. WiFi may be limited at beach locations; better connectivity in Puerto Vallarta.
Money
Local currency is Mexican Pesos (MXN). Most restaurants and vendors are cash-only; credit cards are rarely accepted. Carry sufficient cash when visiting Mismaloya beach.
Transport
Mismaloya lies on Carretera Federal 200, 12 km south of Puerto Vallarta. Taxis and colectivos run along the highway. Water taxis depart from Boca de Tomatlán for Yelapa and remote beaches.
Weather
Best visited November through April (dry season). Rainy season (June-September) brings lush vegetation but humidity and potential tropical storms. Waterfall flows are strongest during summer rains.
