Why Go
Mbabane is Eswatini's largest city and executive capital, home to approximately 95,000 people as of 2010. The city sits on the banks of the Mbabane River and its tributary the Polinjane River in the Mdzimba Mountains, offering a mild climate due to its altitude. While the city centre itself is modest with two small malls and limited major attractions, it serves as the practical gateway to the country, housing government offices and serving as a transit hub for travelers exploring Eswatini.

Get In
Mbabane is easily accessible from neighboring South Africa and Mozambique. Several minibuses travel between Maputo and Manzini/Mbabane, while regular bus service connects Johannesburg and Durban. If driving, you'll find good tarred roads with petrol stations along main routes. Minibus taxis to South Africa depart from the taxi stop near Swazi Plaza, including routes to Mbombela in South Africa.

Get Around
The city centre is walkable, with shopping malls and administrative buildings within easy reach. The city lacks extensive public transit, so most visitors explore on foot in the central area or use taxis for longer distances.

Most precipitation falls during summer months, with June being the driest month and January the wettest.
