Overview

Lurë-Dejës Mt National Park is one of Albania's most remote and pristine mountain parks, offering 14 glacial lakes surrounded by pine forests dating back thousands of years. The park provides a rare opportunity to experience traditional highland life with alpine lock-in towers reflecting the bloodfeud tradition, and visit Dom Nikoll Kacorri's museum house honoring an independence signatory.

Before you go

Connectivity

Mobile coverage is likely limited or absent in the remote mountain areas. Inform family of your plans before entering the park.

Money

Park entry is free. Basic supplies are limited, so bring cash for guesthouse stays and any purchases from local communities.

Packing

Bring layers for alpine weather, sturdy hiking boots, camping gear if staying overnight, and all food/water supplies as options are very limited inside the park.

Safety

The terrain is remote with challenging roads. Inform someone of your plans, carry a first aid kit, and be prepared for limited emergency services in this isolated area.

Transport

A 4x4 vehicle is mandatory. The road from Perlat onward is unpaved and difficult. Budget extra travel time for the challenging mountain roads.
