Overview
Lugoj is a compact, walkable city in Romania's Banat region where the Timiș River splits the settlement into Romanian Lugoj on the right bank and German Lugoj on the left. The city holds historical significance as the last seat of the Hungarian revolutionary government in August 1849, when Lajos Kossuth and other revolutionary leaders made their final stand before fleeing to the Ottoman Empire.
