Overview
Lubaantun (meaning "the place of the fallen stones") is a Late Classic Maya archaeological site near the village of San Pedro Columbia in southern Belize. It offers a quieter alternative to major Maya sites like Tikal and Caracol, allowing visitors to wander the ruins alone in peaceful green forest.

Food
No food is allowed inside the archaeological site. Buy snacks and drinks from shops in San Pedro Columbia village before visiting.
Money
Local currency is the Belize Dollar (BZD), pegged at BZ$2 = US$1. The entrance fee for foreign visitors is BZ$10.
Packing
Bring water and snacks for the hike from entrance road, comfortable walking shoes for the 1.1-km path and site exploration, and cash for the entrance fee and craft purchases.
Safety
The site and surrounding area are generally safe. Hike the 1.1-km entrance road independently or as part of a group. Standard jungle precautions apply.
Transport
Public buses depart Jose Maria Nunez Street in Punta Gorda at 11AM, returning past the site entrance around 4:30PM. The site is a 1.1-km hike from the entrance road.
