Overview
Loket is a small, postcard-pretty town in Western Bohemia where the Ohře River wraps around the historic core, creating a dramatic natural moat. The main draw is Loket Castle, a 14th-century fortress that served as a prison until 1947 and now houses a museum with 90 Kč admission.

Accommodation
The only hostel is Lazy River Hostel at €10/dorm. Budget pensions start around 400-500 Kč including breakfast. Peak summer weekends fill quickly for the Loket Summer Cultural Festival in late July.
Activities
Rafting season on the Ohře River runs May–September. The castle is closed or has reduced hours November–March. Plan outdoor activities for warmer months.
Connectivity
WiFi is available at the Infocentrum tourist office. Mobile coverage uses standard European GSM frequencies, compatible with most international phones.
Money
Local currency is Czech Koruna (Kč). Česká spořitelna on the main square has an ATM and money exchange. Euro is accepted at some accommodations but at unfavorable rates.
Transport
Buses run 7 times daily on weekdays between Karlovy Vary and Loket, taking 20 minutes for 20 Kč. No local transport needed within the tiny town center.
