Overview
Kyotanabe is a small city between the major tourist hubs of Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara, making it an easy half-day or full-day excursion. The main draw is Ikkyuji, a Zen temple built around 1456 by the famous monk Ikkyu-san, who appears in Japanese folktales as a clever child monk.
