Overview
Ko Tarutao is the fourth largest island in Thailand and the crown jewel of Tarutao National Marine Park, established in 1975 as the country's first marine national park. The island remains largely undeveloped, covered in tropical forest with over 100 bird species, macaques, langurs, and monitor lizards.

No ATMs exist on Ko Tarutao. Bring all cash needed from Pak Bara or Ko Lipe where the nearest ATMs are located.
Safety
King cobras present but rarely seen. Aggressive monkeys will tear tents for food—store nothing scented inside. Sandflies active November to January.
Transport
Speedboats run daily November to May. Arrive at Pak Bara in the morning to ensure boat connections. Return trips require advance coordination with park headquarters.
Weather
Island open November to May only. Wet season brings mosquitoes and sandflies. Peak season offers best weather for outdoor activities.
