Overview
Kaesŏng is a rare opportunity to visit a historic Korean capital that was the seat of the Goryeo Dynasty from 918-1392 CE. In 2013, twelve historic monuments and sites here were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, making it one of the most culturally significant destinations in North Korea.

International phone service is not available in Kaesŏng. Internet access for tourists is extremely limited or non-existent.
Etiquette
Show respect at historic and religious sites. Photography of military personnel or installations is prohibited. Follow all guide instructions without exception.
Money
Carry US dollars, euros, or Chinese yuan for souvenir purchases. Local currency is not typically used by tourists.
Transport
Kaesŏng is reached by highway from Pyongyang (2½ hours) or as a day trip from the South Korean side via DMZ tours (currently suspended).
