Overview
Jyrgalan is the easternmost village of its size in Kyrgyzstan, a former mining town now catering to adventurous trekkers and backcountry skiers. The village serves as the trailhead for the newly marked Dzhergalan pass trek (64 km, 4 days) and access to the Boz Uchuk pass at 3,515m.

No restaurants or cafes in Jyrgalan. All meals come from your guesthouse—request lunch and dinner in advance. Buy trekking supplies in Karakol before heading to Jyrgalan.
Money
Kyrgyz som is the local currency. ATMs are in Karakol but not in Jyrgalan; withdraw cash there before arriving. The mini-shop does not accept cards. Budget 1,000 som per night for guesthouse accommodation.
Safety
Remote village with no medical facilities; nearest hospital is in Karakol. Tell your guesthouse your trekking plans. Mountain weather changes rapidly at high elevations.
Transport
Marshrutkas to Karakol depart at 07:30, 11:30, and 16:30. No public transport within Jyrgalan; arrange village transport through your guesthouse.
