Overview
Jishou is primarily a transportation and commercial hub for the Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in western Hunan. Most tourists visit not for Jishou itself but as a convenient base for reaching the stunning Dehang Gorge and the historic Fenghuang ancient town.

Transport
Jishou Railway Station is the main arrival point for the region. Taxis start at ¥3, buses cost ¥1.50-2. No airport; nearest are Zhangjiajie and Changde (2 hours away).
