Overview
Jeongseon is a quiet mountain town in eastern Gangwon Province with a coal mining heritage that declined with Korea's economic development. The area is famous for the Jeongseon Arirang folk songs and hosts a three-day festival in early October featuring parades, folk events, and cultural performances.

Activities
Hwaam Cave costs ₩7,000 for adults and operates 09:30-16:30. Rail biking runs multiple times daily from March to December. The Jeongseon Arirang Festival occurs early October for three days.
Food
Local buckwheat dishes are regional specialties. The Five Day Market runs on specific dates (2nd, 7th, 12th, 17th, 22nd, 27th) and sells fresh mountain produce, garlic, and herbal medicine.
Transport
Train stations Gohan, Sabuk, and Mindungsan serve different parts of the county. Jeongseon Bus Terminal and Gohan Sabok Bus Terminal provide intercity connections. Shuttle buses connect Kangwon Land Casino with High1 ski resort.
