Overview
The Isle of Wight is a compact island county off England's southern coast, dubbed 'England in Miniature' for its dramatic landscape variety in just 23 miles. It blends Victorian seaside charm with modern watersports culture, offering golden sand beaches, dramatic chalk cliffs at The Needles, and the world-famous Cowes Week sailing event in August.

Connectivity
Mobile coverage is generally good in populated areas but can be patchy in remote western parts of the island.
Money
Prices rise dramatically in summer school holidays (mid-July to early September). Holiday cottages are relatively expensive. Budget £60-80 per day for mid-range travel, food, and activities.
Safety
The west coast Military Road has narrow sections requiring careful driving. Some beaches have limited facilities—bring supplies to remote spots like Shepherd's Chine.
Transport
Three ferry operators serve the island: Wightlink (Portsmouth-Ryne, 15 min), Red Funnel (Southampton-Cowes, 25 min), and Hovertravel (Portsmouth-Ryne, 10 min). Expect to pay £21-25 per adult each way.
Weather
June to September are warmest with highs around 20°C. The south-east (Shanklin area) is sunniest. May-September are best for beach activities.
