Overview
Isla Bastimentos National Marine Park is one of Panama's first combined land and marine protected areas, established in 1988. The park covers 13,226 hectares of Caribbean coastline, protecting coral reefs, mangrove forests, and virgin beaches.

Connectivity
Limited cell signal throughout the park. Some areas require radio or guide contact. WiFi available only in Bastimentos town.
Fees
Entry fee is B/. 20.00 for foreign adults (2025). Children under 12 enter free. Arrange entry in advance through tour operators or the Ministry of Environment.
Money
The local currency is the Panamanian Balboa (B/.), which is pegged 1:1 to the US dollar. US dollars are accepted everywhere. ATMs are available on Isla Colón, so bring sufficient cash before heading to Bastimentos.
Safety
Hire local guides for jungle excursions. Avoid unsupervised beaches. Carry first-aid kit, water, and insect repellent. Inform someone of your plans.
Transport
Water taxis and pangas connect Bastimentos to Isla Colón (15-30 min). Walk on trails or rent kayaks and boats for island exploration.
Weather
Humid tropical climate with year-round rainfall. December to April are driest. Bring light clothing, rain gear, sunscreen, and insect repellent.
