Overview
Ishinomaki is a port city of around 165,000 people in Miyagi Prefecture, known for its fishing industry and manga heritage. It was one of the towns hardest hit by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, with the tsunami reaching 5 km inland and killing some 3,400 people.
