Overview
Huai'an is a historic city in northern Jiangsu Province, long an important port on the Grand Canal for transporting grain to the imperial capital. It is the birthplace of Premier Zhou Enlai (1898) and Ming Dynasty author Wu Cheng'en, famous for Journey to the West.

Transport
Huai'an has four train/bus stations serving different directions. The high-speed East Station is in the eastern suburbs. Lianshui Airport is 22km northeast with express bus links.
Weather
Hot, humid summers (25-31°C) with heavy rainfall from June-August. Cold, dry winters (-2 to 8°C). Best seasons for travel are spring and autumn.
