Overview
Hamilton Island is the most developed resort destination in the Whitsunday Islands, offering the most accommodation options, restaurants and shops of any island in the archipelago. Unlike neighboring islands with single resorts, Hamilton Island features multiple hotels, restaurants and activity operators clustered around the marina and resort center.

Accommodation
Accommodation ranges from $330/night self-catering apartments to $1200/night luxury pavilions at Qualia. Budget travelers should expect to pay mainland Australian prices at minimum.
Activities
Reef snorkeling requires a boat trip (not available directly from island). Golf on Dent Island, sailing, kayaking, scenic flights and diving are available. Book day tours at the marina.
Food
Multiple restaurants from fine dining (Bommie) to casual takeaway (Popeyes) are available. No real budget bargains exist. Self-catering apartments offer savings over restaurant meals.
Money
Hamilton Island is significantly more expensive than mainland Australia. ATMs are available but expect premium pricing for everything. Credit cards are widely accepted at hotels and restaurants.
Transport
Fantasea ferries connect Hamilton Island to Shute Harbour ($55 adult one-way). Direct flights arrive at Hamilton Island Airport (HTI) from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Golf buggy hire is $87/day for island transport.
