Overview
Ha Tien is a seaside town at the western edge of the Mekong Delta, just 20 km from the Cambodian border. While marketed as a tourist destination, it sees very few western visitors, making it a quieter, more authentic alternative to busier delta towns.

Vietnam mobile providers (Viettel, Mobifone, Vinaphone) have coverage here. Mai Linh is the main taxi company if you need a lift.
Money
Vietnamese dong (VND) is used throughout. Cash is king here; credit cards rarely accepted at local establishments. ATMs may be limited—bring sufficient cash from larger cities.
Safety
Ha Tien is generally safe for travelers. Standard precautions apply: watch your belongings at markets and avoid crossing to Cambodia at unofficial crossing points.
Transport
Moto taxis cost 10,000-20,000 dong within town; 40-50,000 dong to the border. Mai Linh taxis are the main metered company. Motorbike rental runs about US$6/day.
