Overview
Guamote is a small indigenous community of about 3,000 people in Ecuador's Andean highlands, situated halfway along the Avenue of the Volcanoes. The village offers an authentic glimpse into Kichwa indigenous culture, most notably through its Thursday market, considered one of the most important indigenous markets in Ecuador.
