Overview
Gouqi Island (枸杞岛) is a remote fishing island in the Shengsi Islands (嵊泗列岛), part of the Zhoushan Archipelago off Zhejiang coast. The island is famous for its goji (wolfberry) plant, mussel farms earning major revenue from Japan and South Korea, and hauntingly beautiful abandoned fishing villages slowly reclaimed by nature.
