Overview
Gorkhi-Terelj National Park is considered one of the most scenic areas in all of Mongolia, located just 55 km outside Ulaanbaatar. The park features a beautiful river, forests, and interestingly shaped rocks in a mostly unspoiled natural setting.

Money
The park fee is 3000 ₮. Ger camps range from budget options at 25,000 ₮ (no meals) to mid-range at €20 per person including meals. Cash is preferred at smaller establishments.
Packing
Bring warm layers even in summer for evenings. Winter visitors need extreme cold weather gear. Hiking boots and rain protection are essential.
Transport
Buses from Ulaanbaatar may or may not stop at the park gate depending on timing and season. Arrange onward transport in advance or negotiate with drivers.
Weather
Winters are extremely cold with temperatures dropping to -28°C. Summer days are pleasant for outdoor activities. Always check forecasts and dress in layers.
