Overview
Golaghat is one of Assam's oldest urban centres, set at the confluence of the Dhansiri River and four tributaries. Within the city limits sit two wildlife sanctuaries, a UNESCO-attached park, ancient Ahom-era temple ruins, and sacred sites from the 17th and 19th centuries.
