Overview
Fernandina Island is the largest pristine island in the Galapagos archipelago, with no introduced species. It is the youngest island, home to the active La Cumbre volcano which last erupted in January 2020.

Packing
Bring all water, food, sunscreen, and supplies. No shops or water sources exist on the island. Wetsuit recommended for cold Cromwell current waters.
Transport
Day trips depart from Puerto Villamil on Isabela by speedboat or panga (small skiff). Travel time varies with sea conditions.
Volcano
La Cumbre volcano is active and erupted in 2020; check current activity.
Wildlife
Marine iguana colonies, Galapagos penguins, flightless cormorants, plus Bryde's whales and dolphins in surrounding whale sanctuary waters.
