Overview
Embu das Artes, often simply called Embu, is a small city in Greater São Paulo that has earned its reputation as the 'Land of the Arts.' Since the 1960s hippie movement, it has attracted painters, sculptors, and artisans who gave the town its distinctive bohemian character. The highlight is the massive weekend arts and handcrafts fair that has operated continuously since 1969, one of Brazil's oldest outdoor art markets.
