Before you go
Access
Reaching Darién requires advance planning. Drive 6-8 hours from Panama City to Yaviza or arrange flights. River transport and certified guides are mandatory for park access.
Fees
Non-resident adults pay B/. 7.00 entry. Permits must be arranged through MiAMBIENTE at least 72 hours in advance. A certified guide is required.
Safety
Avoid Colombian border areas. No medical facilities inside the park. Bring purified water, insect repellent, first aid kit, and current vaccinations including yellow fever.
Supplies
Bring everything needed—campsite gear, flashlight, sleeping bag, food, water treatment. No shops exist inside the park.
Weather
Tropical climate with 26-30°C year-round and humidity above 85%. Dry season December-April is best for access. Rainy season brings difficult river conditions.
