Overview
Dangjin is a coastal city in South Chungcheong Province standing on the south shore of the Bay of Asan, bordering Seosan, Yesan, and Asan by land. It is a significant destination in Korean Catholicism, home to the Sollmae Village (솔뫼성지) where Kim Dae-geon—the first Korean Catholic priest—was born and where Pope Francis visited on August 15, 2014.

Transport
Express buses from Seoul to Dangjin take about 1.5 hours. Hapdeok Station on the Seohae Line opened November 2024 with ITX-MAUM service.
