Before you go
Connectivity
No mobile signal or WiFi in the reserve. Solar-powered electricity at lodges is limited. Lago Agrio is the last connectivity point before entry.
Health
No malaria in the reserve but insect repellent essential. Bring all drinking water. Inform guides of any allergies or medical conditions before jungle activities.
Money
Bring USD or Ecuadorian sucre to Lago Agrio before entering. No ATMs exist in the reserve. Lodge packages are paid in advance online or at Lago Agrio offices.
Transport
All access requires a pre-booked tour with accredited operator. From Quito, fly (30 min) or bus (7 hr) to Lago Agrio, then 1-2 hr motorized canoe to lodges.
Weather
Wet tropical climate with humidity 85-95%. Dry season (Dec-Mar) is peak wildlife season. Rainy season (Apr-Jul) means heavier flooding and more mosquitoes.
