Overview
Curtea de Argeș is a quiet Romanian city steeped in medieval history, once serving as Wallachia's first capital. The town draws visitors to its ensemble of Byzantine monasteries and churches, including the Princely Church Saint Nicholas (built 1310–1352) and the UNESCO-tentative Curtea de Argeș Monastery founded by Prince Neagoe Basarab (1515–1517).
