Overview
Chiautempan is a historic small city of about 53,000 residents in Tlaxcala state, offering 16th-century colonial churches and traditional Mexican crafts without the tourist crowds of nearby Puebla. The city is famous for mole prieto (Tlilmolli), a regional mole variant served during the Toci festival, and for hand-woven sarapes and blankets.
