Connectivity
Mobile phone coverage exists in Maiduguri but may be limited within the park. Arrange communication needs before entering the park area.
Money
Currency is Nigerian Naira (NGN). ATMs accepting Visa and Mastercard are available in Maiduguri. Exchange foreign currency (USD, GBP, EUR) in Lagos before traveling to Borno State. Cash is preferred for local market purchases; supermarkets accept cards.
Packing
Bring sufficient food and water for park visits as no supplies are available inside. Binoculars, camera, and sun protection are essential for wildlife viewing and sand dune exploration.
Safety
Borno State has security concerns. Use trusted local guides, avoid displaying valuables, travel in groups, and stay informed about current conditions. The park's remote location requires careful planning.
Transport
Maiduguri International Airport is the nearest air gateway. Bus travel connects to Maiduguri from major Nigerian cities. Within the park, guided tours and walking safaris are the only options as private vehicles are prohibited.
