Before you go

Accommodation

Casas particulares (private homestays) are widely available and offer authentic experiences. Look for blue "Casa" signs. Hotels include Hotel Plaza and Gran Hotel Camagüey.

Connectivity

Internet access in Cuba is limited and expensive. WiFi hotspots exist in some public areas but connectivity can be unreliable.

Culture

Camagüey is not a major tourist destination, offering a more authentic Cuban urban experience with fewer tourist-oriented services.

Money

Cuba operates primarily with the Cuban Peso (CUP). Convert money at official CADECA exchange houses. Casas particulares typically charge in convertible pesos or accept US dollars.

Transport

Local buses are infrequent and overcrowded. Bicycle-taxis (bicitaxis) are practical for getting around. The historic centre is walkable, about 20 minutes from the bus station.
