Overview
Bytom is a post-industrial city in the Silesian Metropolis that developed from 19th-century coal mining and steel production. While not a scenic destination like Krakow, it offers a window into Upper Silesian industrial heritage and serves as a practical base for visiting Katowice (7 km northwest), Auschwitz-Birkenau, and Krakow.
