Why Go?

Budaörs is a commuter town west of Budapest with about 28,400 inhabitants, positioned in the Budaörs Basin among the Buda Hills and Tétény Plateau. The town is notable as Hungary's richest municipality due to large retail stores paying taxes to the local council. Its history dates to the 13th century, and it was high to town status in 1986. The Battle of Budaörs in 1921 was the last attempt to restore the Habsburg Empire.

Getting There

Budaörs is accessed via the M1 and M7 motorways that split the town. The Budaörs Train Station is located on Raktár utca 1; there is no ticket office so tickets must be purchased on the train. Local taxi services include Örs Taxi and Zámbó Taxi.

When to Visit

Budaörs hosts several annual events including Budaörs Festival in May, Idesüss (Day of Budaörs) in August, Budaörsi Vigasságok in September, and Advent in Budaörs in December. Spring through early autumn offers the best weather for outdoor activities and hiking.
