Overview
Borovets is Bulgaria's premier ski resort, offering 58 km of ski runs on the slopes of the Rila mountain range. The resort is also one of the main starting points for hiking to Musala, the highest peak in both Bulgaria and the entire Balkan Peninsula at 2,925 m.

Hotels range from the refurbished Rila Hotel on lower slopes to luxury options like Villa Stresov. Half-board packages at hotels like Bor offer good value.
Food
Piste restaurants are pricey by local standards. La Bomba grill and The Blue Steak House offer better value. Horse-drawn carriage rides cost around 10 lev.
Seasonal
Ski season December-March. Summer ideal for Musala hiking. The Transfiguration feast on August 6th is celebrated at the local church.
Transport
Borovets is about 50 km south of Sofia. Sofia Airport is the main gateway with budget airline connections. Most hotels offer airport transfers with booking.
