Transport
State Highway 1 terminates at Stirling Point in Bluff. The town is 30 km south of Invercargill. Stewart Island ferries depart from the terminal near the Four Square supermarket.
Weather
The weather can be windy year-round. When crossing to Stewart Island, conditions are often rough, especially when strong winds prevail.
