Overview
Bieszczady National Park is the largest mountainous national park in Poland, covering the Bieszczady range which forms part of the Carpathian Mountains. Due to its remoteness and lack of economic or strategic relevance, it contains some of the most pristine nature in Poland.

Before you go
Food
No restaurants or bars inside park. Mountain shelter Chatka Puchatka on Połonina Wetlińska offers basic food. Come self-stocked as few shops charge high prices.
Money
Polish złoty (PLN) is the local currency. Shops inside the park charge premium prices; stock up in Lesko or Ustrzyki Dolne. Trail fees are 9 zł for adults, 4.5 zł for students and pensioners.
Packing
Bring all supplies as few shops exist inside park. Rain gear essential. Warm layers required even in summer due to wind on exposed meadows. Headlamp for dark nights.
Safety
Beware of bears, boars, and rarely wolves. Leave mountains before 17:00 when buses stop. Border area with possible passport checks. Fill fuel tank before entering park.
Transport
Car is essential for most visits. Only one petrol station inside park. Buses run but stop after 17:00. Major fuel stations 40 km away in Lesko and Ustrzyki Dolne.
Water
Tap water is safe to drink throughout Bieszczady National Park. No bottled water vendors inside the park.
Weather
Winters cold at -5°C, mountains 2-5°C colder. Summers around 15°C with sudden rain. Winds on połoniny can reduce felt temperature by 10°C. Thunderstorms common in summer.
