Overview
Assis is a medium-sized city of approximately 101,000 inhabitants serving as the most important city in the Paranapanema Valley and a key transit point between São Paulo state and Paraná/Mato Grosso do Sul. The city developed around 1905 when Captain Assis donated land for a village, growing through railway connections and agricultural commerce.
