Overview
PETAR harbors one of the largest concentrations of caverns on the planet—more than 4,300—set within untouched Atlantic forest covering mountains and ridges. The park contains the Gruta da Casa da Pedra, which holds the world's largest cave mouth, making it a bucket-list destination for speleology enthusiasts.

Money
Park entry fees are paid in Brazilian Reais (BRL). Carry cash for tickets as card payment availability is uncertain. General admission is 32 BRL (2020 prices).
Packing
Pack sufficient food and water for your visit. Bring quick-drying clothes, non-slip footwear, flashlight with spare batteries, and waterproof gear for electronics.
Safety
Snake activity increases in summer months (December–March). Always use a guide for forest excursions and cave exploration. Roads may become hazardous during rainy periods.
Transport
All park nuclei require private vehicle access. No public transport connects to the visitor centres. Tour agencies in nearby towns offer organized transfers.
Weather
Subtropical climate with year-round warmth. April–November offers milder temperatures (averaging 18°C) and fewer crowds than the hot, wet summer season.
