Overview
Agios Efstratios is a tiny Aegean island with only about 300 inhabitants, completely untouched by mass tourism. The 43 km² island sits 30 km (1.5 hours by ferry) from Lemnos and offers pristine beaches on the west and south sides, traditional Greek village charm, and silence so profound that locals joke only donkeys and tourists walk in the bright sun.

Accommodation
Only one confirmed accommodation option as of 2022: Julia's Hillside Accommodation at €40/night. Ask at local cafes for alternatives; Airbnb had no listings.
Connectivity
WiFi at local cafes; EU phone roaming works without charges. Non-EU travelers should buy Greek prepaid SIM (Cosmote) at the Lemnos ferry departure town.
Food
Only two tavernas on the entire island: Taverna Artemonas (with mini market) and Taverna Veranta. Both serve local products including feta, honey, goat, and sheep meat.
Money
Bring sufficient cash from Lemnos; the island has very limited banking facilities. Local economy based on fishery, agriculture, sheep farming, and cheese-making.
Safety
Very safe with small population. Main hazard is sun exposure—shade is scarce when walking. Limited medical facilities on the island.
Transport
No taxi or bus exists; all travel is on foot, by bicycle, or motorbike. Dirt roads require high-clearance vehicles. Ferry is the only way to arrive or depart.
