Places in Vanuatu

  • Aneityum

Aneityum is Vanuatu's southernmost island, a remote volcanic land with twin peaks Mount Indero (852m) and Nanawaréz (804m). With fewer than 1,000 inhabitants and limited infrastructure, it offers an authentic rural Vanuatu experience far from tourist crowds.

  • Efate

Efate is the hub of tourism in Vanuatu, home to the vast majority of resorts and tourist infrastructure. The island offers access to a dozen nearby islands, many of which also host resorts, making it an ideal base for exploring the archipelago.

  • Lenakel

Lenakel is the main town and commercial center on Tanna Island in Vanuatu. While the island is famous for Mt Yasur volcano and pristine beaches, Lenakel serves as the practical hub where travelers stock up on supplies, arrange transport, and experience local ni-Vanuatu life.

  • Luganville

Luganville (also called Santo or Kanal) is the main centre of Vanuatu's biggest island and the country's second-largest town with about 16,000 inhabitants. The biggest draw is the SS President Coolidge, a World War II troop carrier sunk by friendly mines in 1942, making it one of the world's most famous dive wrecks.

  • Port Vila

Port Vila is Vanuatu's political, economic, cultural and transport hub, with the nation's best eating, shopping and resort options. The city is often described as the most beautiful capital in the South Pacific, owing to its stunning location on the lush green hillside by the blue waters of Mele Bay.
