Overview
Zamboanga City is Mindanao's third-largest urban center and the region's most important seaport, making it a critical transit hub for connections to the Sulu Archipelago, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The city calls itself "Asia's Latin City" for its Spanish-based Chavacano creole and shared traditions with Spain, including Our Lady of the Pilar as patron saint.
