Overview
Yuzawa is a small city in southeastern Akita Prefecture that serves as a gateway to natural attractions and culinary traditions off the beaten path. It is best known for Kawarage Jigoku, a volcanic hell-site with sulfur vents and white rock formations, and Oyasu Gorge, where steaming 98°C hot spring waters cascade through forested cliffs.
