Overview
Yulin is a prefecture-level city in the Shanbei region of Shaanxi province, bordering Inner Mongolia to the north, Shanxi to the east, and Ningxia to the west. Historically a garrison town along the Great Wall of China, today Yulin survives primarily on oil extraction found locally.

Yulin has cold, dry winters (down to -14°C) and warm summers (up to 30°C). July-August sees heaviest rainfall at 97-123mm monthly. Best time to visit is April-October.
