Overview
Yugyd Va is the largest national park in Europe and the second largest in Russia, encompassing about two million hectares of pristine Subpolar and Northern Urals wilderness. Together with the Pechora-Ilych Nature Reserve, it comprises the Virgin Komi Forests, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest virgin forest remaining in Europe.

Connectivity
Limited connectivity; the Manaraga shelter has free wifi during generator hours in evenings.
Fees
Park permit: 1,430 rubles per person for two weeks (2019). Accommodation at bases ranges from 180-2,500 rubles per night.
Food
Bring all food as no supplies available in park. Wild berries (cloudberries, blueberries) available seasonally.
Safety
Extreme remoteness and harsh conditions; snow possible year-round, winter temperatures below -50°C. Bears present in some areas.
Transport
Access requires high-clearance 4WD vehicles or organised transport from Inta; shared taxis to Zhellany cost 18,000-23,500 rubles depending on group size.
Water
Water from streams and rivers is safe to drink without treatment throughout the park.
