Overview
Yambol is a provincial administrative centre with over 60,000 residents, offering a slice of everyday Bulgarian life away from tourist-heavy destinations. The city preserves an Ottoman-era bezisten (covered market hall) from the 1500s, several 19th-century churches, and the ruins of the ancient Thracian/Graeco-Macedonian/Roman settlement of Kabile just outside town.
